Premiere of the play "Kokserek"
On March 17, 2026, the theater hosted the premiere of the play "Kokserek", based on the story by M. Auezov. The production presents a touching tale of a wolf cub who, by the will of fate, finds himself among humans and grows up in a village. Tamed by humans, Kokserek bonds with his owners and begins to see himself as a dog. Yet the call of the steppe and his innate instincts ultimately prevail, guiding him back to his true nature. This tragic conflict between wild nature and human society invites reflection on freedom, human responsibility, and the inexorable laws of nature.
Through expressive directorial choices, the psychological depth of the story is conveyed vividly and multifacetedly. The actors create emotionally rich characters, while the stage movement adds a special dynamism and artistic expressiveness to the production. Lighting and sound design heighten the dramatic tension and allow the audience to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the performance.
The premiere clearly demonstrated that the classical heritage of Kazakh literature can resonate in a modern and relevant way, acquiring a new artistic language and evoking a lively response from audiences across generations.
