“My Grandfather Was a Cherry Tree” — a play that has touched the hearts of its audience.
On September 12, the Kostanay Regional Puppet Theatre opened its 41st theatrical season with the premiere of the play “My Grandfather Was a Cherry Tree,” based on the novel by the renowned Italian writer Angela Nanetti.
Through the story of a boy named Tonino and his family, the play explores simple yet deeply important themes for everyone: love for family, cherished memories, family traditions, respect for older generations, and the unbreakable bond between generations. A special place in the production is given to challenging aspects of life, such as the fleeting nature of life, the inevitability of parting, and the loss of loved ones. The play sensitively presents these themes to young audiences, creating a space for reflection on important human emotions and relationships.
This story is relevant to audiences of all ages. Everyone can find something meaningful in it and, most importantly, reflect once again on those who are dear to us and on the value of the time we spend with our family and loved ones.
The audience warmly received the performance. Many shared that Tonino’s story deeply moved them and reminded them of the people and moments most dear to their hearts, which remain in our memories forever.
